Director, Leland Scholars Program

Brandi Pretlow

Brandi Pretlow is the Director of the Leland Scholars Program and an alumna of Stanford (Class of 2005).  Brandi earned her master’s degree in education from Lesley University and holds an MSW degree from the University of Chicago.

Prior to returning to Stanford, Brandi worked in K-12 education and mental health fields in Boston, DC, and Chicago.  Most recently, she served as a clinical social worker at a charter middle and high school in Richmond, CA providing mental health and advocacy services, basic needs, and academic support.  Brandi believes in utilizing a person-centered and holistic approach to create equitable systems that will work alongside students to help them develop insight and self-efficacy in order to achieve their goals.   She is excited to continue this work with LSP students at Stanford!

As a huge proponent of self-care, Brandi practices yoga, enjoys hiking in the Oakland hills, volunteers at a local animal shelter, and entertains others during occasional karaoke sessions!
